Wednesday Drednaught Campaign: Baldur's Gate

The party had a bit of a quandry this week.  With two wagons full of treasure, a barrel of very valuable black powder, and a signet ring, they had to decide what to do.  They think the ring will get them into Baldur's Gate into the lair of the bad guys who stole the riches of Grievance and other villages.  They are worried the black powder will be dangerous is given to the bad guys.  They find themselves unable to remove anything from the wagons due to some sort of curse.  They also find they can't light anything in the wagons because of some protection.  They douse the 5000gp worth of blackpowder in water, making it useless and head to Baldur's Gate. Upon entering the edges of the city, they find Flaming Fist guards watching the bridge.  Akag meets up with another dwarf from Mithral Hall, Sir Darno, Paladin of Moradin, sent to investigate a shipment of mithral.  The dwarves have learned to use Bullettes to pull their shipments of mithral to avo...

The Drednaught Campaign: The Road to Baldur's Gate

This week, the party from Grievance finished clearing out a set of caverns where some "cult" was hiding loot away stolen from local villages.  The party loaded the loot on wagons, only to be confronted by some upset kobolds.  Lesh jumped on to his favorite horse Tim and ran down a large number of them, while the partly quickly dispatched the rest. Lesh and Anders then tied themselves to the bottoms of the wagons with Elmeren accompanying them in dog form.  Two guards turned to their cause drove them out of the caverns, through the encampment of enemies in the canyon, and out onto open roads.  Varn, the NPC investigator from Baldur's Gate, accompanied the others to meet them. They returned with the goods to Grievance where they returned many goods to the town and still made a large amount of gold, set aside to help them further investigate treasures still being transported to Baldur's Gate by the "cult". Varn had arranged for the party to meet up with a...

Port Wayne Revisited: Vampire Hunters in the Nest

When last we left our punk crew, they were hiding with their apparent vampire "friend", Orkbait, in a newly acquired warehouse.  This week the party was hoping to start planning a new heist, but activities were interrupted by three large troll vampire hunters. The vampire hunters came in fast with elephant guns and large greataxes.  Halar engaged the first in melee combat, doing serious damage with his dual hammers.  Rikolv had less than stellar luck against the other two incoming hunters.  Eventually the two got in position, and despite a stellar performance by the crew (except for Kip, who slept through the whole thing), were able to knock out Orkbait and drag him out of the building.  The nearly dead hunter that engaged Halar made a run for a cloaked vehicle, and after a brief episode of Simon and Halar jumping onto the car, the hunter got the car to an exit where Orkbait was being dragged out. The next series of events was truly amazing.  Rikolv got...

D&D 5e Drednaught Campaign: The Road So Far

I am a bit behind on game summaries, so I though I would just do a recap, increasing detail as we approach the latest session. So the party met in a tomb outside of Grievance during a spring squall filled with lightning.  After clearing some obstacles and gathering some treasure, they headed back to Grievance.  Grievance was attacked by "cultists" and a blue dragon.  The party was able to save many people and take out quite a few bad guys before the intruders fled with Grievance's wealth. The party tracked the "cultists" (they seemed to be disguised as cultists) and kobold army back to a forward camp, that they ambushed.  There they gained some more gold and more insight into the main camp. The main camp lie in a canyon with various groups of tents scattered therein.  A single lone watchman's tent lay on the land overlooking the canyon.  The party took out the guards and searched the main tent (the largest), finding a hostage.  His name was Varn,...

Shadows of the Last War: Remnents of Cyre

For the time being, the pages of this journal find me strong enough and well enough to record our journey; hopefully they will for many years to come.  We made it to seaside and the Golden Dawn had other duties, so they broke our deal and left an "observer" to spy on us while leaving us alone.  I had half a mine to make a run for it and dump the spy overboard.  The captain shows us no respect. We found undead had slaughtered Emerald Claw folks in the ruins below.  The old Counselor, a lich-looking elf, summoned a huge undead crab-like creature to fight us, in addition to his undead skeletal zombies.  It was a tough fight, but we bested them all.  The counselor chose to walk back to his country some 3 weeks away and tell his council after we took the schema and all the magical items he had collected.  He warned us not to let it fall into the hands of the Lord of Blades, like we hadn't already thought of that.  He warned of spies everywhere. ...

A Dark and Stormy Night: The Beginning of the Drednaught Campaign

So our new 5e party consisted of: Anders -- Halfling Rogue Elmeren -- Wood Elf Druid Lesh -- Half-orc Barbarian WIlliam -- Human Paladin The party starts in the woods outside the town of Grievance somewhere between Greenest and Beregost.  A squall blows inland from the sea.  Lightning strikes are everywhere and the individuals  sought shelter.  Lesh is the first to find an old tomb built into a hill.  The old stone doors had been blown open by lightning.  Inside he found an empty, but dark stone room where he started a fire. Slowly over time the other three appeared, fleeing close lightning strikes and taking refuge during the storm peace around the fire.  Some looked around but could not decipher old runes in the faded stonework along the ceiling.  3 sets of double stone doors stood strong.  Lech tried to open one set, but it was no use. After a while, as the waters from the storm dripped down into the old stone structure, p...

Port Wayne: The Backups

Some notes from Sunday's Port Wayne game: Thelx got kidnapped by Draven, a local gangster Draven wanted the backups from the space station in exchange for Thelx. Eula made a fake backup drive with "realistic" data Kip rigged the place with explosives in the tool shed and did recon. Once inside for the meeting, Draven showed the crew a video of the station exploding and another station moving into its position. Draven had the right computer for the drive and the test failed. Draven left while his henchman engaged the team. In the ruckus, involving guns and grenades, the team was able to locate Thelx. Everyone escaped relatively unscathed. Spinner confirmed that only WHY knew about the mission, so it is hard to know how Draven found out about it. A bit of a new story started... The party got cryptic texts setting up a meet. The meet was at the dubs camp. There, the party found a large obsolete computer in a truck, running part of the R-AI-L-OR AI. The A...

Shadows of the Last War: Entry to Darguun

A journal entry from Merek on hid adventures in Ebberon: More now than ever I need to keep track of things.  There are so many things afoot, that it is hard to remember it all.  I'll keep this journal in code so no others can read it unless I give them the cypher.  It is too important to have anyone pick it up and read it. The trip on the Lightning train was a fiasco.  After being attacked by assassins we found ourselves in a train car covered in blood and with one lone nobleman scared to death.  Luckily our disguises held.  We ended up pulling the emergency break and making a run for it. Wroat was full of rumors and by our next train stop there were wanted posters for our disguised selves.  At some point, I think I shall have to disguise some bodies the same and turn them in for reward. We made way on towards New Cyre and then Kenrun to get our excavation banner for "safe" passage.  New Cyre left me feeling very alone, with no Gowens to b...

Sunday Cyberpunk Pathfinder: Port Wayne Revisted -- The Restart

We restarted the Pathfinder Cyberpunk campaign on Sunday and the group was well underway in getting themselves into trouble. The current party consists of four interesting characters: Amzi -- Gunslinger (Overkill Gunner) Zed (instectoid) Kip -- Kitsune Techniker Pisha -- Half-elf Bard (Face) / Investigator Thelx -- human hacker The game started out with their pilot being eject out an airlock (player left the group).  Still, there is a skeletal young dragon to tend with, a security gun in the room with it.  There is a pounding at the door adjacent to the party of 3.  Inside the party finds Pisha, locked in for some 40 hours now. The party dispatches the dragon with a couple of well-placed fragmentation grenades. Thelx then lead the party back up to the main deck so he could signal WHY Corp on the station status.  Within 2 seconds of the status report, a 15 minute self-destruct was activated on the station. The local AI started interacting bizarrely ...

Sunday Night: Shadows of the Last War

I officially started a new campaign tonight in Ebberon.  The party consists of a female tiefling fighter/warlock, a dwarven fighter, a warforged wizard, and my character, who will introduce himself in a bit.  The campaign started out in Ebberon and follows the Forgotten Forge as an introduction but quickly got off track into the new sandbox campaign.  Our GM did a wonderful job dealing with out shenanigans.  I'll let Merek tell the rest. I am Merek Gower, an average purveyor or music but an excellent purveryor of stories.  You used to find me most nights in the Broken Anvil, an old tavern buried in the Mason's Tower of House Ghallanda.  I earn enough coin here to pay my way, though I am always looking for other opportunities.  It's in my nature -- I grew up on these streets in Sharn and had to learn them myself.  My mother was a refugee from Cyre and she didn't know this place.  She died here when I was very young.  My father, well, he...

Port Wayne Revisited: The Creature Hunt

So Sunday afternoons I have a new crew gaming my cyberpunk path homebrew for Pathfinder.  Here's the new party: Bob the Pilot, Sylph Kip, Kitsune Techniker Thelx, Human Hacker/Pilot  Amzi, Zed Gunslinger (Overkill Gunner) Indi, Human Rogue The party starts out doing whatever and gets a message to meet spinner in the Cold Tube.  It is a creepy retro hacker bar that attracts only hipster retro hackers and old timers.  The security equipment looks like Uvoid junk yard with animatronic camera eyes watching for trouble. Once inside, the crew meets with Spinner.  Amzi folds her legs and listens, getting stairs from the regulars.  As a Zed, that is the way it goes.  Most Zeds, an insectoid-like race from a crashed spaceship, stay in their compound for good reason.  They can just barely speak a humanoid language.  They also tend to be hunted by researchers and insect haters alike. Spinner gives them the lowdown... a creature loose ...

Friday Night Pathfinder Horror: Ghosts 'n' Stuff

So the party of 3 characters (Lillian, Morrigan, and Sagittarius) and an eidolon started exploring from the room where the 2 ogres had been previously killed.  The room had two apparent exits besides the door they came in.  To the south, there was a closed door.  A small tunnel, large enough to crawl through led to another small door.  The party checked out the door to the South, finding a room with 6 metallic urns circling about a well with a bucket.  There was hideous giggling in the room and the doors opened and closed by themselves, exposing a storage room to the south.  The auras of the room appeared to have an evil tint.  The party decided to explore the small tunnel rather than to deal with the "ghost" here. The party opened the door and sent a rat into the room beyond the door.  The rat was able to spy a bedroom with bags against the double entry doors, and a large ogre with a club.  Unfortunately, the rat was quickly squashed and t...

Friday Night Pathfinder Horror: Back to Civilization

This week the party, missing only Bengrim from its active ranks, conitnued trying to find their way back.  When last we left our heroes they had just talked a beautiful glowing green apparition out of protecting its territory.   Unfortunately two small balls of electrical energy were still hostile and attacking poor Sora. Sora continued to be attacked by the two small floating balls until he lie dying on the floor.  Lillian, Vinde, Morrigan, and others headed past the dangerous creatures.  Sowden fired his crossbow at the creatures.  Tabbris attempted to use spells on the creatures.  The floating electrical balls floated over and started attacking Hecate. Vinde was able to make it to the chest on the side of the cavern.  She opened it without issue and found a large stash of all sorts of random magical and nonmagical items inside.  Unfortunately with the attacks still going on, she had to grab what she could and run.  Morrigan's eidolon, ...

Darkened Path: Friday Night Pathfinder Horror

With a group consisting of 4 old players and 3 new players, Friday Night Pathfinder Horror got back under way this week.  As always, the new players started out with two players a piece.  Here's the starting party: Allison -- Human Bard Bengrim* -- Dwarf Paladin Hecate -- Half-elf Sorceress Lillian* -- Human Fighter (former paladin) Morrigan -- Human Summoner with a Panther-like Eidolon Sagittarius -- Half-elf Ranger Sora -- Elf Bard Sowden* -- Human Ranger Tabbris* -- Human Druid Vinde -- Human Psion Previously played characters are marked with an asterisk. The party starts out, having had new characters fallen down a crevasse into the cavern where the party waits to cross the lake.  Bengrim, Sowden (whose player is out), Lillian, and Tabbris sit near a camp fire.  The party gets briefly introduced and then starts to undertake the task of crossing the murky, putrid lake ahead. Bengrim grabs his climbing gear and climbs along the cavern face t...

Friday Night Pathfinder Horror: Stone Giants

The party had the unfortunate luck of running into two large stone earth elementals this week.  Bengrim, the dwarven stonelord tried to make peace with the elementals.  Unfortunately, it appeared they were tasked with guarding the area and would not give the party passage.  The party knew there was no other way out of the area, so they engaged the elementals. The mechanical pony, Gallop, rushed into battle.  One of the elementals slammed the pony twice hard, and it was crushed, never to move again.  Krull and Kilrax moved up to engage, as well, but the fists of the elementals was too much for them, and they too were killed. At this point, the party began to panic, realizing that the elementals were too much for them.  They decided the best option was to rush around the elementals and make a run for it.  With a just few bumps and scrapes, it went well, until the elementals turned on the party and gave chase.  After only a few seconds, Camden wa...

Rise of the Runelords: Sessions 12 and 13

Ranier reports in after a couple of very long adventures: Well, into the next room we went, and there were some baddies, including old Aldern himself.  He was wearing some sort of strange mask.  It was a touch fight, but in the end, we slaughtered all the unspeakable creatures in there, even some sort of fungal residue of one of the older Foxgloves that was trying to bring him back.  Aldern is dead, and Iesha is layed to rest, her spirit no longer seeking revenge on Aldern.  I wish this was the end, but the trails leads farther on to Magnamar. So we said our goodbyes and hit the road.  Shadowmist (the horse we saved from the goblins at Thistletop) is doing better now and took easily to the trail.  Jericho took his own path there, looking up his family.  We grabbed a room at Trent Towers and then headed over to visit Pug, the guy who made the cages for Aldern's little laboratory animals.  Getting information out of Pug is like squeezing blood f...

Tuesday Night Runelords: The Goblin King of Thistletop

Ranier reports in this week for our 7th session: That stupid Thasillonian snitch was back this week and the news was not promising.  Pajar was back and the paladin got taken.  I was happy to see Pajar.  Another fighter appeared -- one that spoke Thassilonian and not common.  Interesting.  It seems she was stuck in there for 2000 years.  I hope Dante doesn't meet a similar fate. We started poking around the corridor when goblins attacked.  Sol took a bad hit and then decided to get out of the way.  Pajar seem to have quite the knack with magic, blasting away goblins with flames from his hands.  Jericho kept firing off shots and making progress against the enemies.  My scimitar served me well. Pajar has quite a sense of humor.  Our rotund oracle, after being missed by the goblins calls out "You can't hit the broad side of a barn -- that was my nickname in grammar school -- broad side of a barn." We found sleeping quarters for ...

Shadowrun: The Visitor

After a bit of character rebuilding, we started into gaming this week. Three players: C playing Zephyr, an gnome Adept infiltrator M playing Ender, a human Technomancer M playing an unamed elven adept face --- A well-dressed man in a suit falls tumbling down a a tunnel, huffing and puffing from a run.  Its a pretty good fall, but a bed of corn stalks pads landing.  Above light pipes, like giant optical fibers, funnel in light.  Its an underground cavern with a dotted sky.  The cavern walls is visible off in one direction and there are people off in the other direction.  He walks towards the people. Upon closer inspection, there is a road and an open space with all sorts of people -- humans, elves, orcs, and all sorts of others -- whooping and hollaring.  There are internal combustion engines running and firing.  Old cars and vans are strewn about.  The unnamed man keeps walking, changing his looks slightly as he walks into the encam...

Thursday Night Pathfinder: A Change of Party

Aboard the dead ship, the druid, Sheena, and Victaerus watched, backed by the rest of the boarding party.  The Sandman warned the oncoming group not to proceed, holding a torch over the hold.  Sheena went invisible and rushed up to him.  He dropped the torch and Sheena caught it.  The sandman dropped through the floor as sand running between the planks.  The Druid turned ethereal and dropped below, just in time to see the Sandman grab another torch from the wall and toss it into a pile of scrolls and black powder.  A blast erupted, magical burst followed by the explosion. --- The party of Corrail, Felix, the tiger, Yuri the winter wolf, Kiva, Chum the golem, and the rest defeated the two Dark Nagas.  The creatures nearby in the shadows skittered off into cracks and crevices into parts unknown.  Kiva suggested the party rest here.  Chum reinforced the door.  Felix searched the room and found nothing of value, not even food. Felix pu...

Friday Night Pathfinder: Dangers in the Tomb

The party had defeated the two guardians last session and was now standing in a room of alcoves, each a grave.  Three doorways exited the room besides the direction they entered.  To the south, there was a small room with a single large sarcophagus, so covered in dust that Felix could not make out what it was made of. Felix entered, sure that there were no traps (and he would know!).  Unfortunately, 4 wraiths came out of the walls and surrounded him. Felix turned into a bat and flew away.  The rest of the party prepared for attack.  Corrail fired shots with his bow.  Chum swung wildly at the wraiths who pawed at him.  Elliot, the Cavalier, moved up to attack with his sword.  The bard played loudly  greatly inspiring the party.  Sandra, the summoner, buffed herself with magic spells, in prep for a lengthy battle.  Niva blasted the wraiths with magical lightning.  The monk, downtrodden and drunk after lamenting his answer ...
