I am a big fan of using a character generator in Pathfinder to help get better access to all of the character options. I also think it can be useful for what-if exploration of where a player may want to take their character.
A player pointed out PCGen (FREE) to me today and it appears to support a lot of Pathfinder options. Please check it out and let me know if you have any feedback on it in the comments below.

PCGen
As I mentioned it before PCGen Is really the best bit of free software for d20 based character gen I've ever used. If you can get past the sometimes overly resource intensive nature of it at times, it's got good support from 3.5 to pathfinder, and even things like modern, and Call of Cthulhu. I'm very glad that I was able to run across it.
ReplyDeleteIt does a good job of keeping track of what books can be used with what, and even tells you exactly what you need to do to make the character. While some of it an be a bit hard to understand at first, with a little bit of effort, it becomes so much easier then digging through the books, and it takes a lot of the guesswork out. Not in the book? No problem, you can code it in easily with the add an item feature, and more included. It's really just an amazing thing for how much it costs (zero your currency here.)
